The Tulsa Oilers were down two players to callups (Darcy Murphy, Jiri Fronk) but gained a player from the IR (Dennis Brown) when the Oilers hosted the defending Brabham Cup winning Missouri Mavericks at the BOK Center Friday night.

A raucous crowd of 10363 watched as the Oilers gave up the first goal of the night to the visiting Mavericks when Sam Povorozniouk snapped a wrist shot from the right circle, the rebound came off goaltender Jamie Phillips and he collected his own rebound to put the Donkeys up 1-0 at 7:51 of the first period.

The second period would see no scoring as both teams clamped down on defense.

In the third, the Oilers started to apply pressure on the forecheck and that paid off at 2:04 of the final period when defenseman Brandon Martell snapped a wrist shot from the left point and Adam Pleskach tipped the puck home to tie the game at one apiece.

At 6:06 of the third, a lazy two on one with Oiler forwards Kale Kessy and Adam Pleskach ended when Pleskach fired a wrister from the bottom of the right circle that careened off the crossbar and in to give the Oilers a 2-1 lead.

The Oilers would hold on to this lead for most of the remainder of the final period. When Missouri pulled their netminder for the extra attacker, the Oilers were able to capitalize on a final tally when Phil Brewer fired the puck at the net, but it hit the right post and popped back out to a waiting Dan DeSalvo who tucked the puck in with a backhander to end the scoring at 3-1. The Oilers improve to 8-1-0-0 for the season (best in the ECHL) and have yet to lose in regulation at home.

The Oilers travel to Missouri tomorrow to face this same team at the Silverstein Eye Center, then return home to the BOK Center on Sunday for a 4:05pm game against the Utah Grizzlies.
